Wide Slabs General Information

Ducon 2400mm wide solid prestressed, precast concrete plate floor is available in a range of depths from 90mm to 150mm. The precast component is used in conjunction with a specified depth of site placed in-situ concrete to achieve the required load / span parameter.

The precast slab is supplied with an excellent quality smooth soffit, which with the use of construction propping to control camber / deflection, ensures a high quality finished ceiling.

Precast slab width: 2400mm. Precast slab Concrete Strength: 50 N/mm2. In-situ Concrete Strength: 35N/mm2. Temporary construction propping is required and should be provided at centres not greater than those given in the floor selection table below. Further information is available from our design department.

  1. Joints between units must be adequetely grouted with 3:1 sand / cement mortar or 30N/10 concrete prior to the addition of the composite in-situ concrete screed.
  2. Additional steel reinforcement and steel fabric mesh may be required to achieve load / span conditions.
  3. Units must be temporarily propped during construction in accordance with details specified on the relevant slab layout drawing and within the provisions of section 6, BS 8110, part 1 - 1997. Details of propping arrangements may be obtained from our design department.
